We are all storytellers—on social media, in emails, in our poems and fiction. But sometimes the story resides in what is unsaid; in silence, in the absence of sound, in white space and with what is unspoken, there is meaning. McConigley’s lecture draws from a variety of sources—Ilya Kaminsky, Herman Melville, Toni Morrison, Annie Proulx and others—to explore breaking or creating our own silences in writing.
